BIO:
Julie Anne H. Entwistle, CPS
Julie Anne has worked in peer support and community mental health services for more than nine years, becoming a Certified Peer Specialist in 2018 and joining Vinfen as Director of Recovery Services in 2022. During this time, she has utilized her lived experience of mental health challenges to support others in their own recovery journeys and to implement peer support and recovery-oriented best practices at an organizational level. Julie Anne is passionate about elevating the voices of people with lived experience throughout the mental health treatment system, supporting career opportunities and growth for people in peer support roles, and promoting person-centered services. Outside of her work, Julie Anne loves to knit and take care of plants.
PRESENTATION:
In this talk, Julie Anne will share her recovery story with a focus on the role of employment in mental health and substance use recovery and career pathways for peer support workers. She will discuss employment opportunities for peer support workers, the value of peer support and lived experience roles at all levels of the mental health service and treatment system, and the importance of career growth opportunities within peer support work.
