Locations: Brookline, Brighton, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, Dorchester, East Boston, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Lower Mills, Mattapan, Revere, Roxbury, Somerville, South Boston, West Roxbury, Winthrop. Coordinated by Boston Medical Center.

Who receives these services?     Individuals of all ages covered by the following public insurance plans: ~All MassHealth (Medicaid) plans, ~Medicare, and ~Uninsured.

Special Note: Only some private commercial insurance companies contract with Mobile Crisis Teams. If you have a private health plan, call 1-877-382-1609 to learn if your insurance provides coverage for these services.

  • Every city/town in Massachusetts has a local Emergency Psychiatric Service Provider or ESP.

Your conversation? Speak with a clinician who will assess the situation and provide assistance if needed. Be prepared to briefly describe your current situation that is putting your life or your loved one’s life in danger.

What is a Mobile Crisis Team?       They provide mobile crisis interventions for adults and youth at the immediate location: homes, schools, places of work, etc. Their goal? ESPs keep people in the community and out of the hospital.

Team Members Skills?      Experienced master’s level clinicians, psychiatrists, family partners, certified peer specialists, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, and mental health workers make up the team. The statewide system is called Emergency Services Programs / Mobile Crisis Intervention. In Boston, Boston Medical Center coordinates ESP.
